VEMULAWADA -RAJA RAJESHWARA SWAMY TEMPLE

Vemulawada Raja Rajeshwara swamy temple is very famous Lord Shiva temple not only in telangana but also in India and is called as Dakshina Kasi.  The temple is also called by the name Harihara Kshetram” for their being two Vaisnava Temples in main Temple complex i.e., Sri Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple & Sri Seetharama Chandra Swamy Temple. The diety is also called by the name of Rajanna as many of the devotees call, who is adorned on both the sides by the idol of Sri Raja Rajeswari Devi on the right side and to the left is the idol of Sri Laxmi Sahitha Siddi Vinayaka.
Vemulawada Raja rajeswara temple is situated 38 km from Rajanna Siricilla  district of telangana Previously located in Karimnagar district. It draws pilgrims in large numbers from all over the country specially during the karthika masam and shivarathri festival. There is a Dargah inside the temple complex where all devotees offer prayers, irrespective of caste and creed.
People take bath in 'Dharma Gundam' which devotees believe removes all their sins and help them healthy  before proceeding for darshan and these holy waters are believed to have medicinal properties. The  temple also has a very special offering made by devotees called' KODE MOKKU'. Kode mokku is a ritual where the devotee makes the pradakshinam of the temple with a kode (bull) which is vahanam(nandi) of Lord Shiva. Rajarajeshvara temple was built by King Rajaraja Chola. Around 0.5 km from the main temple there exists BADDI POCHAMMA temple where people offer bonalu to the lord.
Various historical stories related to vemulawada:
Once upon a time a king named Sri Raja Raja Narendra came to this place while hunting wild animals. But accidentally he killed a Brahmin boy with an arrow while the boy was drinking water from a pond. Then with the curse of Brahma hatya he got an incurable disease and went on pilgrimage to many holy places and returned back to this place. One day he drank the holy water from the dharma gundam and slept the night praying the lord Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy. In his dreams lord shiva asked him, that to take lords existence, the lingam from the dharma-gundam and put in a temple. When the king woke up in the morning he found that his incurable disease got cured. The existing Shiva Linga is said to be the same idol.

Once upon a time god Indra went to many holy places after he killed Vrithasura and still could not purify his life. Then he took the advice from the guru of gods, Bruhaspathi to visit Sri Raja Rajeshwara kshetram. There he took the holy dip in dharma-gundam and took the blessings of lord Sri Raja Rajeshwara and ruled a golden age of the history. By this ancient story, history gives us the evidence of existence of lord Sri Raja Rajeshwara in Krita yuga.
